Our Vision
At Read Farm & Forest our mission is to create sustainable landscapes that provide products and services for farmers and landowners, while enhancing ecological value.
We work to create systems that are sustainable and resilient while still providing use to landowners. Whether the goal is to add fruit trees to a backyard garden, improve pollinator habitat on a farm, or keep an old wood lot healthy and productive, we can help craft a right-sized solution.
Focus on Stewardship
As the owner of Read Farm & Forest, I was inspired to do this work by my decades of farming experience, and working in natural resource management throughout the United States. How we leave the land to the generations that follow is something every farmer and landowner has to consider. Being able to manage land profitably while focusing on stewardship is my goal, while building more sustainable landscapes and communities.
Who We Are
Aidan Read - Restorations, agro-forestry, management plans & agronomy
I grew up on a farm in Southern Minnesota where I first learned the principles of conservation farming. I completed an undergraduate degree at Hamline University, and had graduate studies in Natural Resource Science and Management at the University of Minnesota. I have worked in both public and private sectors of the natural resources world for nearly a decade, including time with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources divisions of Forestry and Wildlife. I continue to farm with my family on our operation in Rice County.
Maitias Read - Livestock manager & equipment operator
With a decade of livestock and farm management experience and undergraduate studies at UW River Falls, Maitias is RFF’s expert on grazing and farm operations.
Clay Olson - Consulting Forester & Arborist
You don't often get someone who can see both the forest and the trees! As both a trained arborist, and a forester, Clay provides valuable expertise consulting on our forestry projects, and forest management plan writing.
